The Learn To Play ice hockey program is for male and female youth players desiring to learn how to play ice hockey. Coaches will teach basic skating skills to include forward and backward skating, crossovers, pivot turns, hockey stops and other skills relating to balance, quickness and power. Basic stick handling, passing and shooting of pucks along with the fundamental rules of hockey game play will be taught through weekly practices and game situations.
After completion of 1-2 sessions of the Learn To Play program, players will be ready to join the 8U, 10U, 12U House and/or House Select Programs where they can further improve their skills and eventually tryout for the Travel Program.
Players will need full hockey gear to include: skates, helmet, hockey stick, jersey, shoulder and elbow pads, gloves, padded pants, shin guards and a mouthguard. The program has a limited amount of used hockey gear available.
The program instruction fee of $125 includes 10 weekly one-hour sessions.
Begins November 20, 2021 on Saturday afternoons at 2:15 PM and runs until mid-January 2022
The Spring Session of Learn To Play will start on March 19, 2022.
